The BCSE seal, professionally designated as the Blade Type Spring Energized Metal C-Ring Seal, represents a specialized evolution of high-performance metallic sealing technology. This seal is specifically engineered for Ultra-High Purity (UHP) and Ultra-High Vacuum (UHV) applications where the highest possible degree of leak tightness is required at significantly reduced seating loads.
Functional Sealing Mechanism: The unique "knife edge" ridges on the seal face utilize a dual-action principle.
1. Viscoplastic Deformation: Load is concentrated on ridges, causing the ductile plating to fill microscopic imperfections.
2. Elastic Resiliency: A helical spring core provides consistent energy and springback to accommodate thermal cycling.
Due to the concentrated contact area of the ridges, the BCSE seal requires less load to achieve sealing compared to standard metal seals. It serves as a superior high-performance replacement for elastomer O-rings in quartz, ceramic, and standard ISO/PNEUROP flanges.
