Product Description

The Gas-Filled Metal O-Ring Seal (also known as a Pressure-Filled seal) is a specialized high-performance sealing element where the metallic tube is filled with an inert gas under pressure. As operating temperatures rise, the gas expands to increase the seating load, compensating for the loss of material strength at high heat.

Sealing Principle: The sealing relies on the controlled axial compression of the metallic tube between parallel mating surfaces, enhanced by the internal gas pressure. This compression generates a high-unit contact load at the sealing line, causing the seal (or its soft outer plating) to flow into and fill microscopic surface imperfections.

Gas-Filled Metal O-Ring Seals are particularly advantageous in high-temperature applications where maintaining consistent seating force is critical. Unlike elastomers, they offer infinite shelf life, no outgassing, and total environmental resistance against corrosion and radiation.
