The Spring Energized Metal O-Ring Seal is a high-strength metallic tube that is meant to be used in harsh working conditions. A helical spring is placed inside the metallic tube to provide a consistent mechanical seating load, which is ideal for rougher mating surfaces or applications requiring the lowest possible leakage rates.
Sealing Principle: The sealing principle relies on the controlled axial compression of the metallic tube between parallel mating surfaces, enhanced by the internal spring mechanism. This compression generates a high-unit contact load at the sealing line, causing the seal (or its soft outer plating) to flow into and fill microscopic surface imperfections in the mating hardware.
Spring Energized Metal O-Ring Seal is an advanced Metal O-Ring Seal. Spring Energized Metal O-Ring seals can withstand significantly larger loads for rough surfaces and have a much lower leakage rate because of the spring inside the tube, providing consistent seating force independent of system pressure.
