Product Description

The Metal W-Ring seal, also professionally categorized as the Metal E-Ring or E-Seal, is a high-performance semi-static sealing element distinguished by its convoluted cross-section. It is engineered for safety-critical environments where traditional seals cannot accommodate significant thermal transients, high-pressure pulsations, or large joint deflections.

Elastic Operation: Unlike O-rings that rely on plastic deformation, the W-Ring operates primarily within the elastic range. Its convoluted geometry acts as a multi-leaf spring, providing the highest level of springback and maintaining contact load even during flange separation.

This design requires significantly lower compression forces than static O-rings, permitting lighter flanges. It is pressure-energized by the system and can be treated with anti-wear coatings like Tribaloy T-800 for high-vibration applications.

Application Characteristics
High Resiliency
The convoluted geometry acts as a multi-leaf spring. This unique structure allows the seal to maintain a continuous contact load even during substantial flange separation or lateral sliding, ensuring integrity under thermal cycling.
Low Seating Loads
Due to its highly compliant nature, the W-Ring requires significantly lower compression forces than static O-rings or C-rings. This advantage permits the use of lighter flanges and fewer bolts, optimizing system weight and cost.
Pressure Energization
The seal is installed with its open orientation facing the high-pressure side. This allows system pressure to act against the convolutions, supplementing the mechanical seating load to tighten the seal as pressure increases.
Robust Sealing & Wear Resistance
In high-vibration applications, seals are often treated with coatings like Tribaloy T-800 to prevent fretting. Delivers consistent performance with:
High Temp Resistance
High Pressure Resistance
Corrosion Resistance
Wear Resistance
